Definisse™ Revitalise Threads are very fine, bioabsorbable threads designed specifically for skin revitalisation and biostimulation.

They are quite different from the traditional “thread lift” treatments that many people associate with threads. They are not primarily designed to hook, pull or dramatically reposition facial tissues. Instead, they are placed beneath the skin using a minimally invasive technique to stimulate the skin’s own regenerative response.

Definisse™ Revitalise Threads are made from P(LA-CL) — poly(L-lactide-co-caprolactone), a biocompatible synthetic polymer that is gradually absorbed by the body. The threads are fine monofilaments, similar in principle to absorbable medical sutures.

Once placed within the tissues, they provide a temporary scaffold and stimulate the production of Type I and Type III collagen. As the threads gradually dissolve, collagen stimulation continues, helping to improve:

• skin firmness
• elasticity
• hydration
• texture
• fine lines
• crepey or thinning skin
• overall skin quality

According to RELIFE, the P(LA-CL) technology provides longer-lasting biostimulation than traditional PDO and PLLA revitalising threads and can continue to stimulate collagen for up to 18 months.

Are they the same as traditional thread lifts?

No.

Traditional suspension or lifting threads have barbs or cones that mechanically engage the tissues to provide lift and repositioning.

Definisse™ Revitalise Threads are much finer and are used predominantly for regeneration and skin-quality improvement rather than mechanical lifting.

Think of them as a treatment that works within the skin to encourage collagen renewal, rather than physically pulling the face into a different position.

The result develops gradually, creating firmer, healthier-looking and more resilient skin without adding volume or dramatically changing your facial features.

Results from Definisse™ Revitalise Threads develop gradually as the treatment stimulates your own collagen production.

The threads are made from P(LA-CL), a biocompatible and absorbable material that gradually breaks down within the tissues while continuing to stimulate collagen production.

This regenerative effect can continue for up to 18 months, although the longevity of your individual result will vary depending on factors such as:

• age
• skin quality
• lifestyle
• metabolism
• the area treated
• the number of threads used

The improvement is therefore not simply dependent on the physical thread remaining in the skin — the aim is to create a progressive improvement in firmness, elasticity and overall skin quality through new collagen formation.

Maintenance treatment can be considered once the effects begin to reduce, and your practitioner will advise on the most appropriate treatment interval for you.

No. Although Definisse™ Revitalise Threads can be suitable for a wide range of patients, treatment should only be undertaken following a full consultation and medical assessment.

Treatment may need to be avoided or postponed if you:

• are pregnant or breastfeeding
• have an active infection, inflammation or skin condition in the treatment area
• are currently unwell or have a significant acute illness
• have a bleeding or clotting disorder
• take medication that may significantly increase bleeding or bruising risk
• have a history of poor wound healing, hypertrophic scarring or keloid scarring
• have certain autoimmune, immune-mediated or other significant medical conditions
• have previously experienced a reaction to an implanted thread or similar biomaterial
• have recently undergone another procedure in the same area where additional healing time is required.

Some of these factors do not necessarily mean that you can never have treatment, but they may affect whether treatment is appropriate, when it should be performed and the level of risk involved.

Definisse™ Revitalise Threads are designed to stimulate Type I and Type III collagen and can be used for both prejuvenation and rejuvenation, including areas such as the face, neck, arms and abdomen.

Patient selection is an important part of achieving a safe, natural and effective result.

Immediately following Definisse™ Revitalise Thread treatment, it is normal to experience some redness, tenderness, mild swelling or bruising in the treated area.

You may also notice:

• slight sensitivity or soreness
• a temporary feeling of tightness
• small entry-point marks
• mild unevenness or firmness while the tissues settle

These effects are usually temporary and typically improve over the following few days.

Because Definisse™ Revitalise Threads work by stimulating your own collagen production, the final result is not immediate. Improvements in skin firmness, texture and overall quality develop gradually over the following weeks and continue to evolve as collagen production increases.

You will be given full aftercare advice following your treatment and should contact NR Aesthetics & Skin if you experience anything unexpected or concerning.

Following treatment, it is normal to experience some temporary redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising around the treated area. You may also notice mild sensitivity or a feeling of tightness as the tissues settle.

To support healing and minimise irritation, we recommend that you:

• avoid rubbing, massaging or applying firm pressure to the treated area unless specifically advised by your practitioner
• avoid strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours
• avoid excessive heat, including saunas, steam rooms and very hot baths or showers, for 48 hours
• avoid alcohol for approximately 24 hours, as this may increase bruising or swelling
• avoid applying makeup over the insertion points for approximately 12–24 hours
• avoid retinol, retinoids, exfoliating acids and other potentially irritating active skincare products for around 48 hours
• avoid facials, facial massage, microneedling, peels, laser or other energy-based treatments to the area for approximately 2 weeks, unless advised otherwise
• avoid unnecessary pressure on the treated area while sleeping for the first few nights where possible
• use a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 and avoid excessive sun exposure while the skin is settling

If you require pain relief, paracetamol is usually preferred, provided it is suitable for you. Do not stop or alter any prescribed medication without advice from the clinician who prescribed it.

When should I contact the clinic?

Please contact NR Aesthetics & Skin if you experience:

• increasing rather than improving pain, redness or swelling
• significant warmth or discharge from an insertion point
• persistent or marked swelling
• unusual skin colour changes
• a visible or protruding thread
• signs of infection
• or any other symptoms that cause you concern

Comprehensive aftercare advice will be provided following your treatment, and we encourage you to contact the clinic if you have any concerns during your recovery.

DefinisseTM Revitalise Threads are specifically designed to utilise the established clinical efficacy of unique copolymers materials P (LA-CL) – extensively clinically proven through its use in DefinisseTM suspension threads.

This thread material is a bioabsorbable monofilament threads of synthetic origin.
They work by regenerating Collagen Type 1 and Type 3 over a longer time than polydioxanone and Poly-L-lactic acid threads (which only stimulate Collagen Type 1)
