PROFHILO® BODY is a hybrid complex of two different molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid in high concentration.

PROFHILO® BODY intervenes in the physiological process of skin ageing. It has been designed for TISSUE REMODELLING and IMPROVEMENT IN SKIN LAXITY of the inner arm and the abdomen.

Those in the know are trying ‘Glowfhilo’, a cross between a non-chemical peel and an advanced injectable moisturising treatment that exfoliates and reconditions the skin.

No. Although both Profhilo® and dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, they are designed to work in very different ways.

Dermal fillers are usually used to add or restore volume, structure and definition. Depending on the product and treatment area, they can be used to support areas such as the cheeks, chin, jawline and lips, or to soften specific folds and lines.

Profhilo®, by contrast, is a bioremodelling treatment. It is not primarily designed to create volume or reshape facial features. Instead, it disperses through the tissues to improve skin hydration, elasticity, firmness and overall skin quality.

In simple terms:

• Dermal filler = structure, contour and volume
• Profhilo® = hydration, skin quality and bioremodelling

For some patients, one treatment may be more appropriate than the other. In others, they can complement each other as part of a carefully planned treatment programme.

Profhilo® is an injectable hyaluronic acid bioremodelling treatment designed to improve the quality of the skin rather than add volume or change facial shape.

It contains highly purified hyaluronic acid manufactured using IBSA’s patented NAHYCO® Hybrid Technology, which combines high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid into stable hybrid complexes without the chemical cross-linking agents typically used in conventional dermal fillers.

Once injected, Profhilo® disperses through the tissues where it provides intense hydration and supports biological processes associated with collagen and elastin production. This can help improve:

• skin hydration
• firmness and elasticity
• skin texture and quality
• crepey or thinning skin
• mild skin laxity

Rather than filling individual lines or creating facial volume, Profhilo® works more diffusely through the tissues to achieve a subtle, fresher and more naturally rejuvenated appearance.

Results develop gradually as the skin responds to treatment, which is why improvement continues over the weeks following each session.

Profhilo® is commonly used to improve skin quality, hydration, elasticity and firmness, particularly in areas where the skin has become thinner, crepey or less resilient.

For the face, Profhilo® is typically administered using the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) technique, which uses a series of carefully selected injection points on each side of the face to allow the product to distribute through the tissues.

It is commonly used to improve the appearance of:

• the cheeks and mid-face
• the lower face and jawline
• jowling and skin laxity
• nasolabial and marionette areas
• overall facial skin quality and hydration

Profhilo® does not behave like a traditional dermal filler and is not primarily used to create volume or facial contouring. Its purpose is to improve the quality and structure of the skin.

Profhilo® can also be used to treat areas such as:

• the neck
• décolletage
• hands

Profhilo® Body

Profhilo® Body was developed specifically for areas of the body affected by skin laxity and loss of firmness.

Common treatment areas include:

• the abdomen
• upper arms
• areas around the knees

Your practitioner will assess the area of concern and advise whether Profhilo®, Profhilo® Body or an alternative regenerative treatment would be most appropriate for you.

Profhilo® is usually administered as an initial course of two treatments, approximately 4 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results.

Some patients with more advanced skin ageing, reduced elasticity or greater skin laxity may benefit from a third treatment, depending on their individual assessment and response.

To maintain your results, a further treatment course is generally recommended at around 6 months, although this can vary according to your age, skin quality, lifestyle and treatment goals.

Your practitioner will assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate treatment and maintenance plan for you.

Profhilo® does not create an immediate volumising effect in the same way as dermal filler.

Instead, results develop gradually over the following 4–6 weeks as the treatment supports improvements in skin hydration, elasticity and overall skin quality.

You may begin to notice some improvement after your first treatment, but the fuller benefits are usually seen following the second session in the initial treatment course.

The aim is a subtle, refreshed and natural-looking improvement rather than an obvious change in your facial appearance. People may notice that your skin looks fresher, smoother or more radiant without necessarily knowing that you have had a treatment.

The longevity of Profhilo® results varies from person to person and depends on factors such as age, skin quality, lifestyle and individual metabolism.

Following the initial treatment course, results commonly last for around 6 months, although some patients may notice benefits for longer.

To maintain the results, a maintenance treatment is usually recommended approximately every 6 months, depending on your individual response and treatment goals.

Your practitioner will assess your skin and advise on the most appropriate maintenance plan for you.

No allergy testing is needed.

PROFHILO administration using the BAP technique normally around 30 minutes.

Profhilo® is injected using a very fine needle and most patients find the treatment quick and very manageable.

You may feel a brief pinching, stinging or pressure sensation at each injection point, but the discomfort is usually short-lived.

Certain areas of the face can be more sensitive than others, and comfort measures can be used where appropriate.

The treatment itself is usually completed within just a few minutes, and any tenderness afterwards is generally mild and temporary.

To help minimise bruising, swelling and irritation following your treatment, we recommend the following:

• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment, as this may increase the likelihood of bruising.
• Where medically appropriate, avoid ibuprofen, aspirin and other anti-inflammatory medication for 24 hours before treatment.
• Do not stop any prescribed medication, including aspirin, anticoagulants or antiplatelet medication, unless advised to do so by the clinician who prescribed it.
• Please inform us of any medications, supplements or changes to your medical history before treatment, as some may increase the risk of bruising.
• Arrive with clean skin and, where possible, without makeup over the treatment area.
• Please contact the clinic before attending if you develop an active skin infection, cold sore, acne flare, illness, cough, cold, sore throat or fever. Your treatment may need to be postponed.
• Let us know if you have a history of cold sores, particularly where treatment is planned around the lower face.
• Please tell us if you have recently had, or are planning to have, dental treatment, facial treatments, injectable treatments or surgery, so that appropriate spacing between treatments can be advised.
• If you have an important event approaching, allow sufficient time for possible temporary swelling, redness or bruising to completely settle.

Profhilo® is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and a full medical consultation will always be completed before treatment to ensure that it is appropriate for you.

If anything has changed regarding your health or medication since your consultation, please let us know before treatment.

Aftercare advice following Profhilo®

Following your Profhilo® treatment, you may notice small raised areas at the injection points, together with some redness, tenderness, swelling or occasional bruising. This is normal and usually settles within 12–24 hours, although bruising can take a little longer.

To help your skin settle, we recommend:

• Do not rub, press or massage the treated areas unless specifically advised by your practitioner.
• Avoid applying makeup for approximately 12 hours after treatment where possible.
• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours.
• Avoid excessive heat, including saunas, steam rooms and very hot baths or showers, for 24–48 hours.
• Avoid excessive sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 daily.
• Avoid retinol, retinoids, exfoliating acids and other potentially irritating active skincare products for approximately 48 hours.
• Avoid alcohol for around 24 hours, as this may increase bruising or swelling.
• Avoid other facial treatments, including facials, massage, peels, microneedling, laser or energy-based treatments, for approximately 2 weeks, unless advised otherwise.
• Do not take anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen purely to treat normal post-treatment swelling unless medically indicated. Do not stop or alter any prescribed medication without advice from your prescribing clinician.

The small bumps produced by Profhilo® injections usually flatten naturally as the product disperses within the tissues. Profhilo uses IBSA’s patented hybrid hyaluronic-acid technology and is designed to distribute through the tissues rather than act as a conventional volumising filler.

When should I contact the clinic?

Please contact NR Aesthetics & Skin if you experience anything unexpected or concerning, particularly:

• increasing rather than improving pain, redness, heat or swelling
• significant or persistent swelling
• discharge or signs of infection
• unusual skin discolouration or persistent blanching
• visual disturbance
• or any other symptoms that cause you concern.

Comprehensive aftercare advice will be provided following your treatment, and we encourage you to contact the clinic if you have any concerns during your recovery.

There are low risks to Profhilo®. You may experience temporary tenderness, itching, redness, swelling and possible bruising at the injection points.
These side effects tend to resolve within a few days but can last up to 14 days following treatment.

Profhilo® treatment will not be carried out if:

• you are pregnant or breastfeeding
• you are under 18 years of age
• you have a known hypersensitivity or allergy to hyaluronic acid or any component of the product
• you have an active infection, inflammation or skin eruption in or close to the proposed treatment area
• you are currently significantly unwell or have an acute infection, fever, cold sore or other illness that may make it appropriate to postpone treatment

Additional assessment may be required if:

• you have a bleeding or clotting disorder
• you take anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication
• you have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
• you have an autoimmune, immune-mediated or other significant medical condition
• you are currently taking, or have recently taken, isotretinoin (Roaccutane)
• you have recently undergone another injectable, facial, dental or surgical procedure.

These factors do not necessarily mean that treatment can never be performed, but they may influence whether treatment is appropriate, when it should be undertaken and the level of risk involved.
