Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body, that is injected into the skin to create volume, lifting, contour and hydration.

Dermal fillers can be injected into most areas of the face depending on where the client is requiring enhancement.

Here at NR Aesthetics & Skin, I use only the most scientifically tested products on the market, premium range fillers which are CE marked & recognised for their quality , efficacy & safety.

Natural enhancement and restoration is Nicky’s approach using a less is more approach.

The nasolabial folds are commonly known as smile lines or laugh lines. They are two skin folds that run from each side of the nose to the corners of the mouth. They help to make the cheek and upper lip distinctive by separating the two. As a person ages the fold becomes more pronounced. This happens because the aging process reduces the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin causing volume loss and sagging of the skin. Sun can also be a contributory factor.

Naturally as we age, the face tends to become square due to a combination of gravitational descent and upper face / cheek volume loss. This leads to the formation of jowls (the sag around the chin area) and naso-labial lines/folds (the line from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth). This can make you look unhappy and tired. Injecting fillers into then cheeks has many advantages as it can add volume and assist in returning the cheeks to a higher, fuller and more youthful appearance enhancing the contours. This automatically firms up the central facial area too reducing the jowl area and lifts the jawline. Improves the appearance of under Eye bags and hollows

So-called “marionette lines” run from the corners of your mouth down to your chin and can give a grumpy and sad looking appearance. As volume is lost in the upper part of the cheek, the skin sags, forming both nose to mouth lines and marionette lines. These can be corrected with the use of a dermal filler and even Botox depending on severity.

Our lips are one of the most vulnerable areas for ageing as the skin is very thin. With age they can lose fullness and wrinkles start to appear with the loss of hyaluronic acid.

Lip Enhancement is an increasingly popular treatment. It can be used to enhance the shape, volume, definition and hydration of lips. Dermal Fillers have evolved over the years and can provide an effective solution that give natural looking & longer lasting results.

Lip enhancement can be performed at many different areas of the lips to achieve a variety of results:
• Vermilion border or lip outline – for creating definition, width and improve lipstick bleeding lines.
• Add fullness and volume back adjusting the proportion of the lips
• Cupids bow definition – adds definition and contouring.
• Marionette lines
• Sad smile

The saying goes ‘if you want to know a woman’s age, look at her hands’. Our hands can show signs of ageing more than other parts of the body. In fact, sun-damaged, wrinkled, veiny hands can even make you look older than you really are. When you think of what we do them on a daily basis is it any wonder.

Intrinsic ageing of the hands is characterized by loss of elasticity and loss of subcutaneous tissue. This then makes the veins, tendons and structures become more apparent. Fillers can be used here to restore the volume of the soft tissue.

It depends on the area being treated. In the lips and other superficial areas, dermal fillers last on average, between 6-9 months. In the cheeks and jaw, dermal fillers last on average 12-22 months.

The procedure time for fillers are very variable as it depends on the area being treated. Approximately between 30-60mins.

Dermal fillers are injected in tiny amounts using ultra-fine needles. However, some areas are more sensitive such as the lips therefore a prescription strength topical numbing cream is applied to reduce discomfort.

Yes although you will get further improvement over the following 2 weeks

How ‘much’ filler you need depends on your individual factors and expectations. – for example, a 20year old simply wanting to enhance their cheekbones may require less product than a 55year old wishing to improve loss of volume. Nicky will assess discuss your concerns and complete a full facial assessment and work with you to achieve the desired result. Again, a natural result is the desired outcome and this is something that Nicky prides herself in achieving in conjunction with her clients. A slow approach is the best approach.

We advise you not to drink alcohol or take Ibuprofen within the preceding 24hours of your appointment, as this can increase the risk of bruising.

Depending on the area to be treated and individual factors, you may swell and / or bruise in the treated area. However this usually settles between 1-3days

Do not vigorously massage the treated areas in the days after the treatment. Avoid exercise 24 – 48 hours afterwards. Avoid the use of retinol or similar products for 2 days after. Avoid any other treatments to you face such as facial 2 weeks after your treatments. An aftercare advice booklet will be given

The in-depth consultation and facial analysis enable a customised approach to your treatment. If in the unlikely event that you do not like the treatment the filler can be safely dissolved.

Dermal fillers are very safe when licensed premium products are injected by experienced medical professionals, who have undertaken a full assessment of your medical history alongside a full facial assessment. Knowledge of the areas and the product best suited to this area to be injected is essential, and Nicky is very experienced in this. The main risks associated with dermal fillers are associated with the injections themselves – that is, redness and bleeding (both of which resolve during the treatment) and a small risk of pinprick bruising.

If you have previously had cold sores, the use of dermal filler around the mouth area can occasionally reactivate the virus – this can be overcome please alert Nicky to this during your consultation & assessment. There is a small risk of infection, but all products are one-time-use and prepared and administered in an aseptic environment. There is a risk of a vascular occlusion (when the blood is not able to pass through a blood vessel and gets blocked) however Nicky is trained to recognise and treat this extremely rare complication.
